TAE40116 DEADLINE EXTENDED – 1 JULY 2019

The deadline for Trainers/Assessors to upgrade to TAE40116, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, has been postponed from 1 April 2019 to 1 July 2019.

It states on the DET website that “Feedback from the vocational education and training (VET) sector revealed that some registered training organisations (RTOs) might not have met new trainer and assessor credential requirements by 1 April 2019, due to the increased numbers of trainers and assessors accessing gap training. This resulted in some RTOs being unable to keep up with demand to assess and issue relevant documentation by that date. The extension by three months will enable trainers and assessors to continue to train while they complete gap training.”

The change in deadline does not mean that your Trainers should take a step back and take their time, they should get their assessments completed and submitted to the RTO as soon as possible, as we have heard through the industry that there is quite a backlog of assessments to be marked and certificates to be issued.

Q. Has your trainer completed all assessments and now waiting on RTO?

A. If you are a Trainer or have a trainer who has completed all assessments and submitted to the RTO, you now have more time for your RTO to mark the assessments and issue your certificate.

Q. Has your trainer enrolled into the upgrade and just not completed their assessments?

A. If yes, then they should get moving and submit as soon as possible, DO NOT wait until 30 June 2019.

Q. Has your trainer not even enrolled for the upgrade yet?

A. If yes, get them onto it as soon as possible, as they only have limited time to complete. If they hold TAE40110, they just need to complete two additional units. If they do not hold the TAE40110 and need to commence the TAE40116 to upgrade, then they should get onto this today!
